himaya is dedicated to creating a world where children feel safe and celebrated for their rights. Our vision is to provide an environment where every child is protected and their rights are respected. Through holistic intervention and community empowerment, we strive to promote a safe space for children, while also empowering them to be active participants in their communities.

Upholding core values such as impartiality, equity, commitment, diversity, accountability, and partnership, we ensure that children’s best interests are honored, equal opportunities are provided, integrity is protected,multiculturalism is embraced, actions are owned, and trustworthy collaborations are fostered.

In response to alarming results, himaya was established in 2008 as an organization committed to addressing child protection needs on a national scale. Since then, we have experienced continuous growth and expanded our reach to cover all Lebanese territories. With offices in Mount Lebanon, South Lebanon, North Lebanon, and the Bekaa, we ensure accessible services for children throughout the country.

At himaya, we believe in a holistic approach to achieving our mission. We work closely with children, their families, and the wider community to bring about radical change at a national level, ultimately improving the lives of children in Lebanon. Our dedicated and multidisciplinary team of professionals is passionately driven to make a lasting impact and create a brighter future for children across the country.

In December 2014, himaya received a prestigious award from the Stars Foundation UK, recognizing our organization as a runner-up in the protection sector for the Africa-Middle East region.
The Stars Impact Awards are bestowed upon effective and well-managed local organizations that strive to improve child health, education, protection, and WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene) in regions with high rates of under-five mortality.
Today, himaya has evolved into a specialized NGO focusing on child protection. Our primary goal is to prevent violence against children and provide comprehensive support to those who have experienced abuse, addressing their psychosocial and legal needs. By offering this support, we enable abused children to reintegrate into society as productive and active members.
In 2018, himaya became a member of the International Social Service (ISS), allowing us to respond to cross-border child abuse cases involving Lebanese and foreigner parents. Additionally, we have been mandated by the Ministry of Justice to handle all legal protection cases in the North Governate.
These significant achievements and recognitions highlight himaya’s dedication to safeguarding children and making a positive impact in their lives. We remain committed to our mission and continue to work tirelessly to create a safer and more nurturing environment for every child in Lebanon.
