himaya’s Prevention services deliver holistic, community-based child protection interventions aimed at reducing the risk of violence and abuse.
Through a child-centered, family-focused, and community-driven approach, himaya works simultaneously with children, caregivers, schools, and community structures to strengthen protective environments and promote sustainable prevention across communities in Lebanon.
How prevention works in practice
School-based awareness and prevention
himaya delivers structured, age-appropriate awareness and prevention sessions in formal educational settings. These sessions address protection risks, violence prevention, online safety, and children’s rights using participatory and child-friendly methodologies.
School-based interventions promote safe behaviors, help-seeking, peer support, early identification of children at risk, and coordinated referral pathways, contributing to safer learning environments.
Child-focused prevention and psychosocial support
Children and adolescents aged 6–18 participate in group-based psychosocial support and child protection awareness sessions that strengthen their understanding of risks, rights, and protective behaviors.
For children identified at low to medium risk, Focused Psychosocial Support (FPSS) group sessions promote resilience, psychosocial wellbeing, and early identification and referral.
Edutainment activities conducted in safe and inclusive spaces combine learning, play, and creative expression to reinforce prevention objectives.
Parenting and caregiver support
Positive parenting and caregiver support sessions promote non-violent discipline, healthy child development, communication skills, and protective caregiving practices.
Psychosocial and self-care support sessions for caregivers further strengthen family wellbeing and resilience.
Community-based prevention and engagement
himaya implements community sensitization initiatives, peer-to-peer psychosocial first aid, adolescent engagement activities, community theater, and awareness campaigns linked to national and international child protection events.
Child participation and safe community structures
Through initiatives such as Child Municipal Councils, himaya promotes meaningful child participation, enabling children to safely express their views and contribute to community decision-making.
himaya works with municipalities, community volunteers, and local stakeholders to strengthen referral pathways and community-based child protection mechanisms — ensuring coordinated, accessible, and sustainable protection.
